Iliana Balaskas

Senior at the University of Rochester studying Electrical & Computer Engineering and Physics.

My interests span electronics, experimental research, and complex systems, with a particular passion for space and interdisciplinary work. I am seeking an entry-level opportunity where I can apply what I have learned, strengthen my technical abilities, and take on meaningful challenges that call for innovative thinking.

Alongside my coursework, I conduct quantum materials and device research, serve as a teaching assistant and Research Ambassador, and compete on the Varsity Women’s Volleyball Team. These experiences have strengthened my ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar problems, communicate technical ideas clearly, and manage responsibilities across multiple teams. I approach each role with a strong work ethic, curiosity, and a willingness to take on new challenges.

WU RESEARCH GROUP · SEPTEMBER 2025–PRESENT

Quantum materials & devices

I conduct undergraduate research in Professor Stephen Wu’s group at the University of Rochester, studying quantum materials and devices. My work includes characterizing two-dimensional materials and supporting device fabrication, connecting material preparation with measurements of their electrical and electromechanical properties.Read about my research

SENIOR DESIGN · IN DEVELOPMENT

RF interferometry for object tracking

Project lead for a four-person senior design team building an RF tracking system to follow a moving object using phase differences between received signals. We are designing and building the tracker, integrating it with RF hardware provided by the department, and developing the software to connect and control the system, acquire data, and process the signals. Testing will evaluate how accurately the system tracks the object’s motion.View project
